Project Overview:
The Makindye Ssabagabo Municipal Council Selected Roads Project was a major urban infrastructure initiative focused on improving road conditions and mobility within the municipality. The project involved the provision of consultancy services for engineering supervision of construction works for selected municipal roads, implemented in two distinct lots.

Lot 1 covered the rehabilitation of key link roads including Lubugumu–Busabala Link 1 (2.30 km), Lubugumu–Busabala Link 2 (1.20 km), and Lubugumu–Kakora Road (1.00 km).
Lot 2 comprised the rehabilitation of Kibutika Road (2.95 km), Kibutika Road 2 / Municipal Road (1.00 km), Namasuba Para Link (0.60 km), and Nakayenga Road (0.60 km).

The project aimed to upgrade critical urban road infrastructure to improve accessibility, durability, and safety, while supporting planned urban growth within Makindye Ssabagabo Municipal Council.

Our role focused on comprehensive engineering supervision services, ensuring that all construction activities complied with approved designs, technical specifications, quality standards, and contractual obligations. This included continuous site supervision, quality control testing, progress monitoring, contractor coordination, and certification of works.

Project Objectives:
The primary objectives of the Makindye Ssabagabo Selected Roads Project were to:

  • Improve the structural condition and serviceability of key municipal roads.
  • Enhance connectivity between residential, commercial, and institutional areas.
  • Reduce travel time, vehicle operating costs, and traffic-related disruptions.
  • Improve road safety for motorists, pedestrians, and other road users.
  • Support socio-economic development through improved urban transportation infrastructure.

Sustainable Practices:
Sustainability was a core consideration during project implementation. The supervision services emphasized proper drainage design, erosion control measures, and the use of durable construction materials to extend road life cycles. Environmental and social management measures were enforced to minimize disruption to surrounding communities and ensure compliance with relevant regulatory and municipal guidelines.

Community Impact:
The rehabilitation of these selected roads has significantly improved mobility and access within Makindye Ssabagabo Municipality. Improved road conditions have enhanced safety, reduced dust and flooding challenges, and facilitated smoother movement of people and goods. The project contributes to improved service delivery, local economic activity, and overall quality of life for residents, aligning with the municipality’s long-term urban development objectives.
