Entebbe Municipal Council Road Project

Project Overview:
The Entebbe Municipal Council Road Project was a key urban infrastructure initiative aimed at improving road connectivity and service delivery within Entebbe Municipality. The assignment involved the provision of consultancy services for engineering supervision of selected roads, specifically Lot 3: Reconstruction of the Kitooro–Kiwafu–Nakiwogo Road (4.3 km). The project focused on upgrading a critical transport corridor linking residential, commercial, and waterfront areas of the municipality.

Our role was to provide comprehensive engineering supervision throughout the construction period, ensuring that all works were executed in accordance with approved designs, technical specifications, quality standards, and contractual requirements.

Project Objectives:
The primary objectives of the Entebbe Municipal Council Road Project were to:

  • Reconstruct and upgrade the Kitooro–Kiwafu–Nakiwogo Road to improve structural integrity and serviceability.
  • Enhance connectivity between key urban zones within Entebbe Municipality.
  • Improve road safety for motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists.
  • Reduce travel time, congestion, and vehicle operating costs.
  • Support local economic activity and urban development.

Scope of Services:
The consultancy services included continuous site supervision, quality assurance and control, review of construction materials and workmanship, monitoring of progress, coordination with contractors and stakeholders, and certification of completed works. Oversight of drainage systems, road furniture, and traffic management measures was also undertaken to ensure overall functionality and safety of the reconstructed road.

Sustainability and Environmental Considerations:
Environmental and social safeguards were integrated into project supervision. Emphasis was placed on effective drainage to prevent flooding, erosion control measures, and minimization of construction-related disruptions to surrounding communities. All works were supervised in compliance with applicable environmental regulations and municipal guidelines.

Community Impact:
The reconstruction of the Kitooro–Kiwafu–Nakiwogo Road has significantly improved mobility and access within Entebbe Municipality. The upgraded road enhances safety, supports tourism and commercial activities, and contributes to improved quality of life for residents and road users. The project aligns with Entebbe Municipal Council’s broader objectives of sustainable urban development and improved service delivery.
